Marine Renewables Canada Commits to New Diversity Goal

October 15, 2021

Marine Renewables Canada has joined the 50/30 Challenge – an initiative of the Government of Canada aimed at increasing the diversity of organizations. The voluntary Challenge asks organizations to set aspirational goals to reach 50% gender parity and 30% representation from under-represented groups (including racialized persons, those who identify as LGBTQ2, people living with disabilities, as well as First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples) at the board and senior management levels.

The association is committed to working towards the goals as one part of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy. Marine Renewables Canada will be working on additional actions that will foster increased diversity in the organization and looks forward to working with its membership on these initiatives.

To date, over 1300 Canadian organizations have signed up to the 50-30 Challenge, including members and allies of Marine Renewables Canada. The Challenge is open to many different types of organizations, including private sector businesses. Learn more about the challenge and how it can benefit your organization here.
