Submission to Clean Technology in Canada’s Natural Resource Sectors Consultation (NRCan)

On behalf of our membership, we have provided a submission to Natural Resources Canada’s Clean Technology in Canada’s Natural Resource Sectors Consultation. It can be viewed here.

This NRCan consultation is collecting feedback on its proposed strategy to increase its support by $200 million each year for clean technology – and – support Mission Innovation which seeks to double clean energy and clean tech funding to $775 million by 2020. An outline of NRCan’s proposed strategy contained in it’s discussion paper “Clean Technology in Canada’s Natural Resources Sectors” follows below:

We believe many aspects of this strategy are important for marine renewable energy and will support our sector if included in NRCan’s final strategy, but we must also inform them of our sectors specific needs. The association’s submission is a starting point, but your contribution to the consultation will help to raise awareness of the benefits and challenges presented by marine renewables in Canada – and – ensure that the needs and benefits of your company’s work are better understood by NRCan/Government of Canada as it designs supporting policies for clean energy.

You can participate in the consultation here.
