MRC WEBINAR (Sept 20, 2017) – Spotlight on Europe & France: MRE Research, Projects, Progress, & Prospects

Marine Renewables Canada will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday, September 20th at 1:00pm (ADT) titled Spotlight on Europe & France: MRE Projects, Progress, Research & Prospects

Webinar Description:

Europe is recognized as a global leader in marine renewable energy development. The European Union (EU) has prioritized development of the sector, recognizing its potential to help meet clean electricity and carbon reduction targets. There are currently 10 MW of installed wave and tidal stream capacity in the EU, which is almost a three-fold increase from 3.5 MW four years ago.

France is recognized as a leading jurisdiction in marine renewable energy development in the EU and globally. This is largely due to the level of public support and private investment that has gone into the sector, a focus on innovation and technological improvements, and the level of growing activity towards building a supply chain. France is currently pursuing and developing a number of commercial marine tidal and wave energy projects that present business and R&D opportunities for Canadian industry.

This webinar will provide participants with a development update on the marine renewable energy industry in Europe and specifically France, including information on projects (current & planned), policy, research & development and innovation clusters.

Attendees will hear from three (3) experts covering all the above:

Speakers / Presenters:

  • Remi Gruet, CEO, Ocean Energy Europe (OEE)
  • Denis Trottier, Trade Commissioner, Service Industries/Capital Projects & Natural Resources/Cleantech/Energies/Infrastructure, Canadian Embassy (France)
  • Yann-Hervé De Roeck, Directeur Général, France Energies Marines
