Marine Renewables Canada (MRC), with support from ACOA and DFATD, is leading a marine renewable energy mission to the 6th ICOE being held in Edinburgh, Scotland from February 23-25, 2016.

The International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) is regarded as the world’s pre-eminent marine renewable energy industry development event, attracting international industry leaders, research experts, and government leaders from over 25 countries. ICOE 2016 will be the largest marine renewable energy focused event in the world with leading experts and industry leaders. The event will include an exhibition/tradeshow of 125+ exhibitors, over 800 delegates, side and networking events, a 3-day conference program, site visits/technical tours, and a gala dinner.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY for members:
***There is partial travel funding available for 15 of MRC member companies (through GOA – DFATD funding we have secured) and this will work on a first come, first serve basis – it is recommend you register soon if you are interested in this member benefit. 

Following are the mission activities that will be offered to all those who register to participate in the Canadian Mission to ICOE 2016:

Business Readiness Session and Support (NEW) We will also be holding “Business Readiness” session for all Atlantic Canadian companies that are interested – this will comprise of a full day session (in January) that will cover: General Industry Info, ICOE Overview, Funding Opportunities & Support, “The art of the Elevator Pitch” session and Marketing support (how companies should market themselves at ICOE and internationally).  The aim of this activity is to assist companies in preparing for the mission to ICOE and provide information and support on how to best market themselves and gain the most from the opportunity.

Matchmaking services (for those that register for it): Professional matchmaking services will be contracted for mission participants who register to use the service. This contracted matchmaker will work with companies one-on-one to identify organizations of interest and set up meetings.

Marine Renewable Energy Pavilion at ICOE 2016 Exhibition:
MRC has secured optimal booth space and will secure a contractor to build the Pavilion. The pavilion theme will be in keeping with past missions to ICOE to continue the Canadian presence and profile that has been established. The pavilion will have bistro-style kiosks, and a meeting or “gathering” place.  It will also enable mission companies to display their logos, provide information specific to their firm, and provide a space to meet with other companies. **One (1) exhibitor badge per company and a one (1) company listing in the exhibitor program will be provided.

Pre-Mission Briefing (in-country) Meeting:
An in-country briefing will be held the day before the conference/exhibition begins for all attending delegates. MRC will provide a sector orientation and team profile session for participants on site. This allows all aspects of the mission—booth, networking opportunities, events, etc to be reviewed by the organizer.

Promotional Materials (Canadian promotional booklet, graphics and printing):
To highlight Canada’s leadership role in the marine renewable energy industry and establish a global presence for Canadian firms, a booklet will be developed to include participant firms’ information.

Support Staff:
Two MRC staff member’s will be on hand to assist at the booth, provide information on Canadian initiatives and opportunities, assist members of the mission, and provide logistics support for the duration of the conference.

Networking Activities & Invites:
MRC will work with the ICOE organizers and Canadian Consulate to organize and/or secure invitations to beneficial networking events during ICOE.

There are two levels of registrations available for participants:

Mission Only (access to Pavilion, Briefing Session & Networking Events
$500 + tax (per company)

Mission & Matchmaking Service (access to Pavilion, Briefing Session, Networking Events & Matchmaking Services)
$1000 + tax (per company)
