MRC Webinar – Offshore Wind in Atlantic Canada: Opportunities & Challenges

April 21, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm ADT

Free

Join Marine Renewables Canada, in partnership with Cox & Palmer, to hear from a panel of industry thought-leaders and policy makers experienced in working in frontier/green field development.

In the context of aggressive development of and competition for acreage in the US Eastern Seaboard for offshore wind, emphasis on renewable sourcing of energy and climate change, and the development of hydrogen as a fuel source are today’s hot topics.  Additionally, using the immense resource available off the Atlantic Coast of Canada for offshore wind development, is increasingly becoming an attractive proposition. This session, moderated by Elisa Obermann, Executive Director, Marine Renewables Canada, will examine:

  • The legal and regulatory framework for offshore wind development in Canada – what do we have and what we need;
  • How experiences in offshore oil and gas development in Newfoundland and Labrador can be translated to offshore wind development regulation and operations;
  • Policy and market initiatives required to fuel offshore wind development (export market in New England, Atlantic Loop, hydrogen development, leadership at the Federal and Provincial levels etc.);
  • Investor and developer outlook
