A group that represents the offshore wind industry says Nova Scotia’s potential is appealing to many companies and the general framework is “very reasonable,” but a four per cent royalty could make some shrink away.

“It’ll depend on what the additional costs are, and the big questions of how those [transmission lines] are completed and where they connect to,” said Jonathan Robinson, senior policy advisor with Marine Renewables Canada, in a recent interview.

Developers are looking for predictability, but there’s significant uncertainty in the economics of offshore wind in Nova Scotia, Robinson said.
