Marine Renewables Canada to lead offshore wind mission to the United States

Next week Canadian representatives of the growing marine renewable energy industry will showcase capabilities to an international audience in New Jersey. Marine Renewables Canada, with support from the Government of Canada and Government of Nova Scotia, is leading a trade mission of 24 delegates to the  International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum (IPF) hosted by the Business Network for Offshore Wind.

The offshore wind industry in the United States of America (US) has been growing, with 35,324 MW of offshore wind development in the pipeline and a goal set for 30 GW of development by 2030. A report conducted by the Special Initiative on Offshore Wind, projects that the US offshore wind industry will total $109 billion within 10 years.

“Canadian businesses have strong capabilities in marine renewable energy, as well as other offshore sectors such as oil and gas that can support offshore wind development. This mission is aimed at assisting our members in identifying opportunities to apply and transfer their expertise,” said Elisa Obermann, executive director of Marine Renewables Canada. “With recent offshore wind announcements in Canada, IPF is an important conference for our membership. We want to learn more about the strategies and tools used to support offshore wind in the US and see how lessons learned and best practices could support future development in Canada.”

IPF is well regarded as the premiere offshore wind energy conference in North America, connecting global leaders and businesses in the supply chain, and delivering timely and relevant updates on the industry, from technology and policy, to safety and siting. The event typically attracts 1500+ attendees from over 15 countries. Through participation in conference sessions, a booth at the exhibition, and side business and networking events, the mission will serve to showcase Canada’s capabilities, help participating organizations develop new business leads, and provide intelligence and information about the growing offshore wind market.

The following organizations are participating in the mission to the US:
