SUMMARY:MRC Webinar - Offshore Wind in Atlantic Canada: Opportunities & Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Join Marine Renewables Canada\, in partnership with Cox & Palmer\, to hear from a panel of industry thought-leaders and policy makers experienced in working in frontier/green field development. \nIn the context of aggressive development of and competition for acreage in the US Eastern Seaboard for offshore wind\, emphasis on renewable sourcing of energy and climate change\, and the development of hydrogen as a fuel source are today’s hot topics.  Additionally\, using the immense resource available off the Atlantic Coast of Canada for offshore wind development\, is increasingly becoming an attractive proposition. A calendar invite with Zoom access details will be emailed to all registrants \n\nAbout the Presenter:\nBrandon Burke\, Vice President of Policy & Regulatory Engagement\nThe Business Network for Offshore Wind \n \nBrandon Burke joined the Business Network in 2019 as its director of Policy & Outreach. He now serves as the Network’s Vice President for Policy & Regulatory Engagement\, and plays a key role in defining and executing the Network’s offshore wind energy business development and policy strategies both on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts; he also represents the Network and the United States offshore wind industry in the international context. Brandon is also host and executive producer of Offshore Wind Insider\, the Network’s popular bi-weekly podcast\, which features interviews and analysis on breaking news and policy developments with industry leaders. He regularly speaks about developments in the U.S. and global offshore wind markets\, both in-person and virtually\, at domestic and international events. \nPrior to joining the Network\, Brandon worked for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU)\, where he advanced New Jersey’s offshore wind program by supporting the deliberative process that resulted in NJBPU’s June 2019 award of 1\,100 megawatts to Ørsted’s Ocean Wind project. He also contributed to the efforts of the New Jersey Offshore Wind Inter-Agency Task Force\, specifically the development of the New Jersey Offshore Wind Strategic Plan.
