SUMMARY:Mission to the 2026 International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) & Ocean Energy Europe (OEE)
DESCRIPTION:The marine renewable energy market is evolving rapidly\, with tidal energy expanding in both Europe/UK and Canada. ICOE-OEE 2026 presents a prime opportunity for Canadian companies to build on experience and relationships to pursue commercial projects and contracts\, and aligns with MRC’s IBD priorities that include gaining market intelligence\, attracting developers (interest in untapped resource opportunities in Canada)\, and connecting Canadian supply chain with experience from Canada’s tidal and wave activity.  \nIn partnership with Ocean Energy Europe 2026\, the joint conference will further enhance visibility and engagement opportunities. Mission participation and activities are targeted at capitalizing on foundational relationships\, supporting supply chain development/partnerships with European/UK firms to achieve innovation in the sector and attract project developers/investment in Canada. Wave and tidal energy are progressing globally\, making ICOE-OEE an important event to share knowledge and build partnerships. With increased tidal activity in the Bay of Fundy and advancements in remote community wave and tidal R&D on Canada’s Pacific coast\, Canada is well positioned to shape and benefit from global market development. \nMission participants will develop valuable business contacts and new collaborative networks through extensive networking and business-to-business meetings. The mission will feature an exhibit/booth\, B2B meetings\, possible site visits\, and targeted networking events. Contracted matchmaking services will ensure structured B2B engagement and facilitate additional business connections as opportunities are identified.   \nAdditional background info on ICOE-OEE 2026:  \nThe International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) is a biennial global event dedicated to advancing the industrial development of marine renewable energy. The conference is an initiative of the IEA-OES.   \nOcean Energy Europe (OEE) together with the Dutch Energy from Water Association (EWA) will join forces to host ICOE-OEE 2026\, in The Hague\, The Netherlands on 5 – 7 October 2026. This event\, focused on ocean energy technologies\, will combine the International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) and Ocean Energy Europe’s annual Conference & Exhibition. An ICOE-OEE joint event provides a unique opportunity for the sector to come together\, network and do business\, and hear the latest news and updates. The event will feature an exhibition hall\, a conference programme with several technology and policy tracks\, as well as side events\, networking events and a site visit featuring the most important Dutch ocean energy sites and companies.  \nMission Activities: \n\nMRC/Canada booth in the exhibition\nOne (1) Full Conference Pass\nPre-Mission Briefing Session\nAccess to a Consultant to assist in preparing for the mission\, making connections\, and setting up B2B meetings\nMRC hosted networking reception\nSpeaking opportunities\nSupport Staff\n\nMission Details: \nDate: ICOE-OEE conference dates – Oct 5-7 / Mission dates – Oct 4-8 \nLocation: The Hague\, Netherlands \nCost: $1500 + tax per company \nDeadline to register: June 30\, 2026 \nTravel Funding: Partial travel funding will be available for MRC members (Canadian companies) in accordance with our travel funding policy.  This funding will work on first come first serve basis. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Offshore Wind Futures | Virtual Supplier Workshop: Help Shape Atlantic Canada’s Offshore Wind Supplier Program
DESCRIPTION:As Nova Scotia moves toward its first offshore wind projects\, regional businesses are asking practical questions: Where do we fit in the supply chain? Who are the buyers? And what do we need in place to compete? Marine Renewables Canada (MRC) is developing a supplier education program to help businesses prepare for these opportunities—and we want to hear directly from industry about what that support should look like.  \nIf you’re an Atlantic Canadian business with interests in offshore wind\, join this interactive virtual workshop to share your perspectives and help shape the content and priorities of MRC’s Offshore Wind Futures supplier education program.  Through live polls and facilitated discussion\, participants will help identify the information\, training and support businesses need to prepare for opportunities in the offshore wind industry. Your input will directly shape the content and priorities of MRC’s future supplier education activities.  \nWhat to expect \n\nProvincial update: The status of offshore wind development in Nova Scotia \n\n\nUnderstanding the supply chain: How procurement works\, who contracts whom\, and where regional companies may fit \n\n\nIdentifying barriers: The challenges suppliers face when entering the offshore wind supply chain \n\n\nTraining and certification: Workforce development\, training and certification requirements \n\n\nShaping the program: What businesses need to know\, and how the program can best support them \n\nAbout Offshore Wind Futures \nOffshore Wind Futures is a two-year initiative led by Marine Renewables Canada\, with support from the Nova Scotia Department of Energy and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. It will help Atlantic Canadian businesses prepare for and take part in the offshore wind industry. The initiative builds on MRC’s Atlantic Wind Energy Supply Chain Assessment. That study reviewed about 1\,070 Atlantic Canadian companies with potential roles in wind energy and rated roughly one in four as highly applicable to the sector.  \nThe region starts from real strengths: engineering\, environmental monitoring and permitting\, large steel fabrication\, marine logistics\, vessel services and offshore operations experience. But the assessment also found that complex procurement systems and the certification requirements of top-tier suppliers can discourage local companies from competing. Offshore Wind Futures aims to close that gap through a supplier education program\, and we want to build that program around what businesses actually need.  \nRegistration details \n\nThe virtual workshop is open to Atlantic Canadian businesses. \n\n\nRegistration is limited to 60 participants\, with one representative per company. \n\n\nThis virtual workshop is an alternative to the in-person workshop in Halifax on December 1. Companies already registered for the December 1 in-person workshop are asked not to register for this virtual session. \n\nRegistration deadline: November 20\, 11:59 pm AT
