SUMMARY:Mission to RenewableUK 2025 Global Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:MRC is leading a mission to the RenewableUK 2025 Global Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition\, taking place this June 17-18 In London.   \nThe RenewableUK Global OSW Conference & Exhibition is the largest OSW event in the UK\, attracting approx. 5000 attendees\, including all the major developers and tier 1& 2 suppliers\, and features a large exhibition space. You can view the full list of exhibitors here and the conference program here. \nThe UK is a global leader in offshore wind with over 14GW of operating capacity\, providing over 17% of the UK’s electricity needs\, and has an ambitious target to deliver up to 60GW of offshore wind\, including 5GW of floating offshore wind by 2030.  The UK’s offshore wind sector is in a period of significant growth and development\, with a focus on expanding capacity\, exploring new technologies like floating wind\, and addressing the challenges associated with the transition to a clean energy future.  The rapid expansion of the offshore wind sector will require a robust and capable supply chain\, providing real opportunities for Canadian companies. A few key developments and trends include: \n\nConstruction and Commissioning: Several large offshore wind projects are nearing completion and are expected to begin full operations in 2025.\nFloating Offshore Wind: The UK is making significant strides in floating offshore wind technology\, particularly in the Celtic Sea\, with planned leasing rounds and potential for substantial capacity growth.\nRenewable Energy Growth: Renewable energy sources\, including offshore wind\, are expected to contribute a larger share of the UK’s energy mix by the end of 2025\, potentially exceeding fossil fuels.\nDecommissioning and Lifetime Extension: The UK is also addressing the end-of-life of older offshore wind farms\, with recommendations for extending their operational lifespans and developing effective decommissioning strategies.\nPolicy and Support: The UK government is implementing various policies and reforms to support the development of offshore wind\, including adjustments to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) mechanism and the allocation of new marine-protected areas.\n\nWith that in mind\, we have identified the RenewableUK Global Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition as an ideal opportunity. Below are details on the mission: \nMRC Mission to RenewableUK Global Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition\, June 17-18 \nMission Dates – June 16-20\, 2025 \nLocation – London\, UK (with site visit to Blyth) \nMission Participation Fee – $1500 + tx per company (**one (1) conference delegate pass is included with this fee). \nTravel Funding – Partial travel funding may be available for MRC members (Canadian companies) in accordance with our travel funding policy\, pending CanExport approval\, expected any time now. This funding will work on first come first serve basis. \nMission Activities: \n\nOne (1) Full Conference Pass ($1500 CAD value)\nPre-Mission Briefing Sessions (virtual & in-country)\nAccess to a Consultant to assist in preparing for the mission\, making connections\, and setting up B2B meetings\nNetworking Opportunities\nSite-visit (June 19)\nCanada-UK Workshop on supply chain opportunities & collaboration (June 16)\nSupport Staff\n\nDeadline to register is May 2\, 2025 and space is limited.
